Consumers can either shop online or at retail for plasma TVs, but there are a few ways to ensure that, no matter where you purchase, you will get exactly what you paid for. With the internet auction craze gaining in popularity, consumers should be aware that if something sounds too good to be true, then it probably is. Low pricing for such expensive technology is just one of the red flags that consumers should be wary of. Warranties, when offered, sometimes require consumers to return the television at their own cost and may not even be an American warranty. Anytime a consumer deals with online auctions, they should purchase only from a reputable dealer after researching feedback and asking questions prior to getting locked into a purchase agreement.

Tip! Hitachi has developed a new ten-bit image process that handles over a billion color display gradations, and produces the highest blacks and deepest saturation of any plasma tv unit.
The two newest technologies in the world of TV are plasma and LCD. Plasma, the most recent technology, has been quickly coming down in price in the last couple of years, and is now relatively affordable. Currently, a 42-inch plasma display sells for approximately $2500, with cheaper – and smaller – versions available. LCD, or liquid crystal display, TVs have only recently taken off, and are currently more expensive than plasma. LCD technology, however, has existed for quite some time; it has been used in laptop computer screens for over a decade. Not until recently have larger versions of the LCD screen been produced. As larger LCD screen become available, along with decreasing prices, LCD becomes a much stronger plasma competitor.

When you think of comparing plasma to DLP technology you should really compare the main aspect and that is the picture quality. The contrast by definition is the measurement of black depending of the white amount. The plasma is a step ahead this time. The boast of this in the plasma technology is truly remarkable and it’s possible to heard about ratios like 4000 to 1. But not all the manufactures can accomplish this level of quality and the main ration is only 1000 to 1. The DLP is a relative new technology on the market so it’s not really fair to compare with plasma but some of the big manufacturers came close to the standard ration 1000:1.
